Top-Ranked West Chester Holds off No. 9 East Stroudsburg, 13-11

EAST STROUDSBURG, PAKerri Barnett (Glenolden, Pa./Arch Bishop Carroll) scored six goals and assisted on three others as visiting West Chester went on the road to defeat East Stroudsburg, 13-11, in a PSAC Women's Lacrosse conference match Wednesday.
 
The win gave the regular-season sweep of the series to West Chester (10-0/6-0 PSAC East) for the third year in a row. The victory also marked its 54th consecutive regular season win dating back to 2022. The Golden Rams have also won its last 39 regular-season conference tilts.
 
Barnett, who ranks among the top five goal scorers in the country at Division II, improved her season total to 59 in West Chester's 10 games so far. She opened up the scoring with her first of the game a little more than halfway through the first quarter. That began a four-goal outburst by the visitors that gave West Chester a 4-0 lead early on. Barnett added a tally with 13 seconds left in the first half and another 1:60 into the second half that made it an 8-5 game. She potted her fourth of the contest with 1:30 left in the third quarter that gave the Golden Rams a 10-6 lead and another at the beginning of the fourth quarter.
 
Barnett's final marker came with 1:22 left in the game and made it a 13-9 advantage for the guests, who led the eniter game. East Stroudsburg rallied with two goals in the final 14 seconds, but the comeback bid ended there.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper, Hannah Carnelius (Medford, N.J./Shawnee), relieved freshman starter Morgan Koons (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) at halftime and made five saves.
 
Sydney Wasdick (Pottsgrove, Pa./Pottsgrove), Madeline Edinger (Perkasie, Pa./Pennridge) and Audrey Miller (Sinking Spring, Pa./Wilson) each scored two goals for the Golden Rams. Lila McMahan Skates (West Linn, Ore./West Linn) scored a goal while Kendall Fortune (Jarrettsville, Md./North Harford) added a pair of assists.
 
West Chester returns home on Saturday to take on Bloomsburg University at 1 p.m. at Vonnie Gros Field. It will be Senior Day on Saturday, and the Golden Rams will honor its senior class before the contest.
