Anne Hathaway's ageless beauty! Hollywood icon looks younger than ever at 42 as she leaves fans in awe... but what's the secret to her youthful complexion?

Anne Hathaway has long been a household name in Hollywood, only going from strength-to-strength ever since first rising to fame in her teenage years.

During her almost three decades in the spotlight, Anne has become a sought-after leading lady and recently wowed fans in racy age-gap romance The Idea Of You.

And throughout all of her Hollywood stardom, Anne, now 42, has barely aged a day and still looks almost identical to her red carpet days in the early 2000s.

She sent fans wild with her latest Instagram post on Wednesday, showing off her youthful complexion while smiling for a selfie and sporting an Arsenal football shirt.

Though her sporting prowess was the focus of the post, fans also couldn't help but also heap praise on her ageless beauty.

In the selfie, Anne looked younger than ever as she shielded her eyes beneath a black baseball cap and flashed a smile for a camera, showing off her smooth complexion.

With the post racking up more than one million likes, comments included: 'Too perfect'; 'You are the best'; 'Beautiful.'

It is not the first time fans have been floored by her youthful looks and Anne herself has previously given an insight into how she maintains her stunning features.

MailOnline takes a look back at Anne's ageless red carpet appearances over the years and how she keeps her flawless skin looking as taut as ever.

RED CARPET EVOLUTION

Anne has been known to shake-up her style over the years and has sported every haircut from a chic pixie cut to long luscious brunette locks.

She first soared to global fame in 2001 as Mia Thermopolis, Princess of Genovia, in the Princess Diaries - a role she landed at the age of 17.

In the nearly 30 years following, Anne has become a regular on red carpets and appears to be having a new lease of life in her 40s, securing a string of top roles.

Last year, she played the older love interest of a world-famous pop star in The Idea of You, starring opposite man of the moment, Nicholas Galitzine, 30.

During promotion for the popular age-gap movie, the actress made several glamorous red carpet appearances and fans were left in awe of her youthful looks.

Anne has been creating timeless red carpet looks that are becoming among her most iconic yet as she continues to soar to new heights in her career.

Fans notably heaped praise on the global star when she appeared at the Moncler Grenoble Fall/Winter 2025 Show in Courchevel, France, last month.

When a video emerged on X, formerly Twitter, of Anne arriving at the event, users flocked to the comments to claim she looked younger than in her earliest films.

One person shared a GIF of basketball star Lebron James making slam dunks and wrote: 'Anne Hathaway when it comes to aging.'

'That mysteriously wealthy aunt who appears once a year, draped in designer, smelling like expensive candles, and handing out crisp $20 bills like she's a fairy godmother,' someone else quipped.

'Anne Hathaway looks stunning at the Moncler show in Courchevel - seriously, she hasn't aged a day!' another user praised.

'One of the finest women in the world can't believe she's in her 40s,' gushed a different fan.

STRICT SKINCARE

Only last month, Anne gave an insight into her skincare regime as she shared a stunning make-up free snap with Hollywood bestie Jessica Chastain.

The friends, who starred alongside each other in 2024 thriller Mothers' Instinct, made sure to put their skincare first while jetting off on their travels.

Smiling for the cameras, Anne and Jessica both sported sheet face masks as they kept their skin hydrated while relaxing on the plane.

Anne's long-term facialist has also previously given an insight into the Devil Wears Prada star's strict daily skincare routine.

Renowned celebrity facialist Su-Man told Net-a-Porter that Anne massages her face, puts on a face mask and applies SPF 30 every day.

The actress herself has also spoken in the past about how she has always prioritized protecting her skin from sun damage, after her mother encouraged her to wear SPF daily from a young age.

'I even carry an umbrella if I walk in the sunshine and use spray tan if I need to look as if I've been sunbathing,' she previously told the Sun in 2012.

Sure enough, in 2015, pictures emerged of her walking down the streets of New York City holding a turquoise umbrella in the sun to protect her skin.

Dr Asha Chhaya, an aesthetic doctor and medical lead at WY Skin Clinic, also told MailOnline how else she thinks Anne maintains her flawless features.

'She likely follows a consistent skincare routine, with sun protection as a top priority, using SPF daily,' she shared in 2024.

'Her regimen probably includes gentle cleansing, moisturizing, and regular face masks to keep her skin hydrated and radiant.

'It's also likely that she incorporates antioxidant serums to shield her skin from environmental damage, and no anti-ageing routine would be complete without retinol - known for its ability to boost collagen production and reduce the appearance of fine lines.

'Prioritizing quality sleep and managing stress effectively, despite her demanding schedule, are also crucial elements of her regimen.

'It's possible she benefits from regular facials and subtle cosmetic enhancements to further bring out her natural beauty.'

GIVING UP ALCOHOL

Six years ago, the Interstellar star also gave up drinking amid a promise to be sober while raising her sons Jonathan, born in 2016, and Jack, born in 2019.

The actress told People: 'In my thirties, I had to give up alcohol. I couldn't do it anymore. I couldn't lead the life that I wanted while drinking.'

She previously revealed to Boston Common Magazine that one hangover lasting for five days put her off from drinking again.

She said: 'When I'm at a stage in my life where there is enough space for me to have a hangover, I'll start drinking again, but that won't be until my kid is out of the house.'

Dr Asha Chhaya told MailOnline how giving up alcohol can also have a major impact on skin health and help to contribute to more hydrated skin.

'Giving up alcohol can have a profound impact on skin health and overall appearance,' she told FEMAIL.

'Alcohol is notorious for dehydrating the skin, which can lead to a dull, tired complexion and exacerbate conditions such as redness and acne.

'By abstaining from alcohol, Anne has likely mitigated these adverse effects, resulting in clearer, more hydrated, and youthful-looking skin.'

Dr Asha added that alcohol can disrupt sleep, which is a vital component for skin regeneration.

FITNESS REGIME

In terms of health and fitness, Anne works out regularly and has been known to exercise in sessions for an hour a day, five days a week.

Celebrity personal trainer Ramona Braganza, who helped Anne get in shape for her roles in Get Smart and Rachel Getting Married, said varying workouts are really important.

She told Women's Health Anne would do a '321 training method' which involves a mixture of cardio, circuit and core exercises using resistance equipment to increase strength.

For those who don't particularly enjoy exercise, Ramona said she would switch up her warm-ups with Anne so she would stay engaged.

'We often warmed up by doing sun salutations. Or a dance warm-up. I enjoy leading as I have a background as an NFL cheerleader which helps,' she told the outlet.

TOP FOOD TIPS

In terms of Anne's diet, the Love and Other Drugs star has revealed she focuses more closely on nutrition now she's in her 40s than she did in her younger years.

She told People: 'I want to go back and talk to my 25-year-old self who felt like she didn't have to do anything and just be like, ''Oh honey, honey, there's a whole other world out there and it tastes like an avocado''.'

Anne went through a phase of being a vegan when she was filming Interstellar but she gave it up to eat a piece of fish the following day and instantly felt better.

But those wanting to adopt Anne's way of living will be glad to hear that she does not skip dessert.

Her personal nutrition coach Jackie Keller told Shape back in 2012 that they would always put a sweet treat in her plan so that she would avoid cravings.

These included gluten-free chocolate chip cookies, marble cake and fudge brownies.

HOW TO GET ANNE'S LOOK

Dr Asha Chhaya previously spoke to MailOnline about Anne's make-up routine and gave advice on how eager fans can emulate her look.

She said: 'It looks like Anne often goes for a fresh, natural make-up look to enhance her features without being overly dramatic.

'I would recommend a lightweight, hydrating foundation or BB cream to even out your complexion without masking your skin's natural texture.

'You want to avoid any heavy or cakey products that can settle into fine lines as this can be ageing.

'Applying a soft, rosy blush on the apples of your cheeks will give you a healthy, youthful flush, while a touch of highlighter on the high points—think cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of the nose—adds a radiant, dewy finish.

'For the eyes, neutral, soft-toned eyeshadows would be the best choice to subtly define and enhance without overpowering.

'A sweep of mascara will open up the eyes, making them appear larger and more awake and on the lips, a natural, rosy shade or a glossy balm will keep them looking plump and hydrated.'
