Wreck claims life of Opp man
OPP, Ala. (WTVY) - One man is dead after his car left the road in Opp. Opp Police Chief Kevin Chance identified the victim as Michael J. Wilson. Wilson, 30, was driving along Perry Store Road after 8 a.m. Monday morning when police say he lost control of his vehicle, striking a tree, before stopping in a ditch.

High School Baseball: Local teams get set for playoffs
A number of high school baseball teams in the area wrapped up their regular season last week and four teams will continue on into the postseason. The Charles Henderson Trojans (19-13) split a Class 5A, Area 3 doubleheader with the Andalusia Bulldogs on April 11. Charles Henderson won the first game by a score of 3-1. Chase Vaznaian went 3-for-3 at the plate with a pair of doubles and an RBI to lead CHHS at the plate. Cooper Johnson also went 2-for-2 with a double and two runs, while Clay Johnson pitched six innings and gave up just two hits and one earned run. Blake Lowery also gave up no earned runs and one hit in his one inning on the mound.

Vincent’s Aiden Poe wins Bryant-Jordan state Scholar-Athlete Award
BIRMINGHAM – Vincent High School senior Aiden Poe and Opp High School’s Haley Vendetti were named the Bryant-Jordan Scholarship Foundation’s 2025 state Scholar-Athlete and Student Achievement award recipients at Monday night’s 40th annual Bryant-Jordan Student Athlete Awards Banquet held at the Sheraton Ballroom Monday night, April 14.
