Women's Basketball Falls at Albright

READING, Pa. - In its final road game of the season on Tuesday, Eastern Women's Basketball dropped a 89-49 decision to the Albright Lions at the Bollman Center. Junior guard Jeriyah Johnson recorded another double-digit performance with 24 points, giving her 126 points in Eastern's last five games, but the Lions, who had four players finish in double figures and held a 63-38 rebounding advantage, led most of the way.

Orianna Edmond scored the first basket on Albright's first possession, and Mackenzie Dover followed with a three to give the Lions an early five-point lead. Johnson scored the first nine points for the Eagles, all coming via the three ball. Her second three put the Eagles ahead briefly 6-5, but the Lions answered with 13 unanswered points to grab an 18-6 advantage with 2:37 to play in the quarter. Johnson and Damiyae Moyet each hit threes later in the frame, but the Lions took a 22-12 lead into the second quarter break.

Albright shot seven-of-16 in the second quarter and never trailed by less than 12 points the rest of the first half. Another three-pointer from Johnson and five straight points from Trinity Upton late in the frame made it a 45-30 Albright lead at the halftime break.

The Lions dominated the second half, outscoring the Eagles 44-19 in the final 20 minutes. The Eagles scored just five points in the fourth quarter and hit just two of their 18 field goal attempts.

Moyet was the Eagles' second leading scorer with 11 points, while Upton finished the game with eight points, five rebounds, and four assists. Dover led the Lions with 26 points, while Edmond, CJ Apistar, and Gigi Serrano scored 14, 13, and 12 points, respectively. The Lions also dominated the glass, bringing down 21 offensive rebounds which led to 48 points in the paint and 21 second chance points.

Eastern (2-22, 1-12) returns to The NEST for its season finale against Messiah. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
