Anime: Hajimari no Boukensha-tachi: Legend of Crystania

The only similarity between Lodoss War and this pathetic anime is the existence of a character named Ashram and his dark elf companion Pirotess (neither of whom look or act as they did during the Lodoss War series, and are completely butchered as characters).

The animation is terrible, the battles stiff and the movements lack fluidity. Bland backgrounds and lack of special effects highlight this poorly done anime. The soundtrack and voice actors arn't much better, especially the voice actor for Orvielle.

The story is incredibly simple and boring; band of companions travels to save the world from evil. As to the characters themselves, they are all in the typical Lodoss War mold: the up-and-coming young knight with a thirst to prove himself (aka Parn 3.0), the magic user, the elf, and the mercenary. The most interesting character is probaly Orvielle's little girl, but she isn't able to save this anime from its' terrible cast.

I wouldn't reccomend this to anyone, especially not to Lodoss War fans. This anime was incredibly boring, and the butchering of Ashram's character just makes this annoying to watch.
