Person: Nakamura Takashi

Nakamura Takashi was born September 12, 1955 in Yamanashi Prefecture, Japan. He is an accomplished Japanese animator and anime director as well as a member of the Japan Animation Creators Association (JAniCA). It was his work on Ougan Senshi Goldlightan that helped inspire fellow animator Morimoto Kouji.

He aspired to be a professional mangaka and went to Tokyo to pursue his dream. In 1971 he joined at Tatsunoko Pro as colourist before becoming animator. After leaving the company he went freelancer and participated in many works in different roles, ranging from key animator to episode director. His directorial debut on a feature was with Robot Carnival.

His 2001 film A Tree of Palme was an official selection of the Berlin Film Festival.

Nakamura revolutionised anime in the early 80s with his more realistic and extremely detailed and fluid style of animation. He is one of the few animators who has proven that he can successfully take on almost all of the creative burden for a film, as he did in episode 4 of the Hakkenden OVA series, the short film Chicken Man & Red Head in the Robot Carnival anthology. This was first proven in Gold Lightan, in which he directed and animated an episode entirely by himself and handled most of the animation in the other episodes he was involved in.
