It's... conflicting. It's epic, gritty, non-"artificial", dark, fun, and goes a long way to tell everything as "raw" as possible. This is why I like mature themes that doesn't sugarcoat graphic events, coz those affects the tone massively. This series isn't dark just for the sake of it.
Knowing which side is which can be hard here, sides change everytime, and all of them just feels natural. You'd have an easier time watching if you don't outright pick a side. But the story is just so beautifully crafted, that I can still gain satisfaction on climaxes despite my stance. It's just that almost everyone here (except the MCs) equally deserves to win and lose.
It'd be perfect had it been paced like say, Vinland Saga, but I'd take a finished story any time of the day. The holes in the story as you watch might seems major (and indeed confusing). But as you progress on, none of those really matter later on, when more important topic brought up.
