ST. PETERSBURG, April 22. /TASS/. Grain exports to African countries via the Baltic ports have increased 2.4 times since the beginning of the year, the St. Petersburg branch of the Federal Center for Assessment of Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products reported.
"Since the beginning of the year, as of April 22, 698,000 tons of grain have been exported under the supervision of specialists from the St. Petersburg branch of the Federal Center for Assessment of Safety and Quality of Agricultural Products, which is 2.4 times more than in the same period of 2024," the report says.
As for volumes of shipped grain and processed products, the ports of the Leningrad Region and St. Petersburg are the leaders in the Northwestern Federal District.
Since the beginning of the year, the countries of the African continent received more than 300,000 tons of grain (46% of the total volume). New destinations for Russian grain shipped from the Baltic Sea ports included Senegal, Togo, Nigeria, Mali, Tunisia and Libya. Supplies to Morocco remain stable. Russia exports soft and hard wheat, barley to African countries.
